Do you remember when you could put black olives on all five of your fingers?
Back then, every day was a new adventure, and dreams weren't just dreams.
When you looked in the mirror, you liked what you saw.
Really liked it.
Your small world was a VERY BIG place, and wonders were everywhere!
Setbacks were just bumps in the road.
You tried again.
You laughed more than you cried.
You believed.
I wish they made bigger black olives.

Nice post, my daughter eats them too fast to put them on all her fingers.
Dude, you are RAD. This might be my favorite post of yours...
Awesome post. So bittersweet though.
how do you think of this stuff? That is totally awesome!
My grandma taught me to do this with olives when I was Teeny. My mom was pretty mad. She also taught me how to swear... I wonder how mom felt about that?
I'm still reading your blog and praying for you all.
Had to comment about this. I have something brewing in my head from when I was small enough to wear black olives on all 10 fingers. Not sure when I will write it, but those pics are inspiration enough to get going. Fantastic!
Me, too. Very cute photos. =)
super cute! maybe they have some weird ginormous mutant black olives you can get...but those cute little fingers to really fun!
Most excellent post!
Let me know when you find the bigger olives :)
What, the jumbos don't fit?? Fortunately, my gene pool came with very small hands and fingers, so I can (and do!) still do this.
Lovely post.
LOVE this photostory! Good timing to remember now when things were funner and simpler. Thanks for taking us back to our childhoods. :0)
Dude! I sooooo remember doing this!!!!!!! Aww, if only I still liked olives. ;)
oh man.....if only bigger olives had that power. sigh....that would rock.
Ah........ those were the days! Though I don't think I ever tried the olive thing!
Beautiful post!
Great post! And your daughter is aborable by the way. :)
I remember trying to fit everything over my fingers....even Bugles, those cone-chip things.
Great picture, and great thoughts to go with it.
hmmm. . . . doesn't everybody eat their olives like that? I thought that's why they made them that way! Here’s my photo story happy Friday!
I'm sure every kids has placed olives on their fingers (even ones like me who didn't actually like them...)v cause it is cool!
I know you can find some big enough for adult fingers, keep looking!
What a neat way to think about childhood and to connect that with growing up. I never put the black olives on my fingers. I hated them, but over the years have grown to like them (though not love them). I suppose there is an analogy in that too. :-)
Those photos are awesome. What fun!
We did the same thing with Bugles growing up (the crunchy snack).
I agree with Cec, this might be my favorite post too. And on a side note, I am really craving olives now....and a martini. :O
My little boy loves olives....he does this and acts like he is a frog. Now I do wish I didn't have to wipe olive juice prints off the walls...but, small price to pay!
Love this post...thanks for visiting my story! happy weekend
Of course I remember! Although in our family, we put Bugles on the ends of our fingers, and I'd pretend to be a wicked witch. ;)
How cool is this! You rock...and yes, I'm witcha..those olives need to be larger...or at least find a good substitute for those feelings. Awesome post! Thanks for sharing.
Mmm delicious! I'm gonna buy some for my kids too.
me too, me too. i love this post.
Oh, me too. I tried showing my son how to do that. He told me, "That's silly, Mom!" but he tried it anyway. Only made it to one finger before he couldn't resist eating the olive.
I still force them onto my fingers when my son is playing with his...it is the best way to eat olives, I am sure of it!
How I loved putting black olives on my fingers - I taught Harrison to do it. He likes them, why not. Great post.
You are so insightful. Eating black olives off my fingers will forever remind me of Thanksgiving. I think that was the only time of the year that whole black olives were set out.
:-)
I hate when I come so late that everything good has been said.
awesome post (I know...already said)
Mmmmm. Yes, bigger olives would be fabulous for so many reasons. All of the reasons you mentioned...in additiont to the fact that I am SO addictd to olives and that would be YUM! ;D
Izzy loves Olives and learned to do this with another family friend. I hate olives and think they smell bad too. lol! At least the kids like them, it's a veggie right. Ha!
And yes, wouldn't it be nice if things were as simple as bigger olives. I miss being a kid sometimes.
Hope you are having a wonderful week!!
I wish it too! :) Great post.
I'm passing on an award to you. So sometime you'll have to check it out. :) Have a great day!
Haha I love it! -The picture and all of that. Not the olives. *cringe*
That is too funny....and yet, bittersweet, too.
Guess it's funny because I've never put olives on my fingers (but I've done it with bugles).
