Photostory Friday: 365 Week 11

Day 71

March 12: I looked up from answering emails, and saw the clock: 11:59pm!

Panic sets in! Is it 11:59:01 or 11:59:59? I have no idea, I dive for my camera, the adrenaline is surging, I can't hold the camera steady, my mind goes blank -- I have no ideas.

Just press the shutter button stupid!

Instinct kicks in, I grab the Darth Vader bobble head. I shoot.

11:59:58  11:59:59  12:00:00

Actually, I learned a valuable lesson here, that I want to share with all of you. After I took the picture, I wandered out into other parts of the house. The clock in the living room said 12:01, the clock in the bedroom said 12:00, the clock in the kitchen said 11:57.

You need to set all of the clocks in your house to different times. That way you even out the odds a little more. If one clock says you missed the deadline, another might be more forgiving. I say, as long as you shoot the picture in the presence of the correct clock, you're good!

That's a tip kids, write it down.

Day 72

March 13: Have you ever wondered where you rank, in the vast food chain of life?

Here's a clue: If THIS guy has a reserved parking space, and you don't...you're probably somewhere in the cellar.

With me.

Day 73

March 14: It's calling to us -- me and my son. "Turn off the television. Come out, and shoot some hoops. Talk and laugh and play while the weather is warm, and the days are long."

Soon, soon.

Day 74

March 15: Chocolate crack.

Day 75

March 16: I like to clean out my ears.

Really like it.

REALLY LIKE IT.

Probably more than I should admit here.

Day 76

March 17: 10% of me is 90% Irish.

I started collecting these shamrock caps three years ago -- Dublin is the 2010 model.

St. Patrick's Day is one of my favorite holidays of the entire year. I'm not sure why.

I don't drink. My Irish lineage is limited to one branch of the family tree. I frankly don't care whether there are snakes in Ireland, or not. But I love this day.

Maybe it's because it's really a celebration of Luck, and we all have more good luck than we sometimes want to admit.

Maybe it's because I don't have to buy anything.

I mean besides shamrock hats.

Day 77

March 18: I just got carded.

Buying Nyquil.

She asked me if I was eighteen.

I was eighteen, nineteen years ago.

I inadvertently took a self portrait too -- if you look close, you can see my reflection in the bottle. The distortion, from the curvature of the bottle, makes my neck look huge-antic.

The thumb with sunglasses, that's me.

We are totally on the same schedule with this lately. Nice! :)

I love that you love q-tips. I do too. I might clean out my ears twice a day. heh.

I totally snerked out loud that you got carded for Nyquil. Life is so odd nowadays.

And I happen to like the bobblehead picture. :)

My husband and I both lOL at the Poo Manager sign. I hope you took that outside a pool. ;)

Woo hoo for being Irish!

Good to know that I am not the only obsessive ear cleaner. I actually have a cup of q-tips on my bathroom counter, and refill it regularly!

By the way... last week I was the poo manager. You should go look at my week and read about Day 70. Ha!

I love the hoops shot. Love. Something about that perspective.

I got carded buying white out once. It was a weird day.

Emily said...

Ok, dare I ask, but what's a poo manager?

And I actually like to have all my clocks set to the exact same time. One of my (many) ocd traits.

Ok, (big breath) I'm going to admit something.

I. Love. Cleaning. My. Ears.

Seriously, I'm addicted. (don't tell anyone)

(love the idea of 365 -- I need to do this next year.)

(p.s. Thanks for stopping by today)

You seriously got carded! Ha that is too funny.

And let's see, the ear thing.. um yeah I can actually totally relate and totally agree.

I don't know if I would go swimming at that pool since their manager is a poo manager :)

LOL! I love the 'self portrait'!

poo manager... lol.

haha I always love your posts! My husband is the same way with Q tips, so I totally know what you are talking about. The sign was AWESOME! anyone who has kids in diapers otta get one of those :D

Great tip on the clocks! LOL

LOVING the photo of the basketball net. Very cool!

Poo Manager. hahahaha.... pretty sure my job is "Poo wiper" and I'm thinking that is considerably lower ;)

LOL At being carded buying nyquil -- you'd have to drink like a gallon of that stuff to really get affected.

The poo manager sign is so funny.

The basketball hoop shot is really cool looking. At first glance, I thought it was a windmill.

Irish is in my family line, too. I like the hats.

Your stories are short, funny and to the point. Thanks for another week of enjoyment.

Nice pictures - so what IS that first just before deadline one?

You know you should not be cleaning your ears - ever! Yes, the ENT told me! ( But like you - really really like it)

koreen (aka: winn) said...

Carded for Nyquil? Seriously? Not in Canada! But hey, the important thing is: you got carded. How nice! ;)

Lisa @ Boondock Ramblings said...

The ear thingee...Yeah...uh...well. Good for you.

That Nyquil thing..do you think she was hitting on you?

I've almost done the bobble head thing..not with a photo of one, but I mean, looking for a photo before the day ends. Yeah...sad.

And, I want to be the poo manager. Cleaning poo has to pay more than typing up obits, right?q

Kelli @ writing the waves said...

I showed my husband the POO MANAGER sign. hilarious! And the q-tip thing - yeah...a little too much information. haha ;) My husband is part Irish as well - not sure of the percentage - but like you, I love holidays where you don't have to buy stuff! Well, with the exception of Lucky Charms & Rolos (they look like GOLD - the kids get a kick out of it.)

Having all my clocks set to different times would drive me crazy! The clock on my tv gains time and I have to go change it every couple of days to match my watch.

A couple of months ago I got carded when I bought glue......it is starting to get a little ridiculous!

I can't pass by a Q-Tip without cleaning my ears. I am a little obsessed.

Thanks for the chocolate craving!

Mom24 said...

Carded? Awesome. That would make my day.

I run a home daycare, does that make me a poo manager? Not sure I want a sign though.

Love the 2010 cap.

latree said...

when you checked out the clocks and watches, have you counted the time you took to walk from room to room?

Krystyn @ Really, Are You Serious? said...

I don't think I could handle the pressure! My clock and my hubby's say a time two minutes different. And they are the same clock...the same self setting clock on two different side of the bed. Crazy.

I got carded to buy compressed air once. I needed to be 16!

I'm pretty sure I'm way below poop manager. I teach high school!

Raise Them Up said...

I wonder if the school bus would wait for us if we grabbed the right clock before running out the door...

Naa, the luck/forgiving thing probably breaks down when you unplug it.

And I'll have to take your word for it on the self portrait on that bottle. I'm not seeing anything. Lol!

My olny problem with your time theory is when I upload my photos the camera tells me the truth of when I took the shot :(
I love you 10% of me is 90% Irish! My maiden name is Irish so I claim it 100% but I'm sure I'm more German than Irish technically..... but who's keeping track? Did you check out my sister's post? it is on her recent visit to the Emerald Isle.

I absolutely love these insights into your life!

Love the hats. And you should definitely find a way to get your 90% or your 10% there some day (Ireland that is). WE loved it, and I hope to go back in about 4 years, when the kids will be old enough to come along. And The poo sign was too funny.

I Love the basketball hoop picture!
and as for the time thing. remember it's always happy hour in some part of the world :) !

weird . . . I took a picture of Darth Vader this week too.

my favorite this week is the b-ball hoop :)

Lindsay said...

first - love that sign! I need to hang it above Addie's changing table.

The thumb with the glasses....lol!

And seriously - you really don't have to buy anything for St. Patty's....hmmm...it may have just become MY fav holiday, too.

Pete said...

I can't help but notice, Chris, that only women and Aaron ever comment on your stuff. Oh, and me now. That's a little disturbing...about me I mean.

imbeingheldhostage said...

Too much Guiness, Chris, you are looking a little heavier these days...
LOVE the basketball hoop and have technical questions about it.

I didn't know you loved all things irish! Maybe I'll remember next year and send you something from Ireland. I'd have to go there first, but that's as good of a reason as any. "Hubby, we have to go to Ireland". "Why Ireland?" "Because I need to buy something for Chris, it's his favourite holiday".
"click"
"aaaaaaagh!" (the sound of my internet being turned off).

Maude Lynn said...

I still haven't gotten used to being carded for Nyquil!

Wonderful pictures! I love the Darth Vader one and the helpful hint! :)

Love the hat tradition!

We are itching to play outside more too and are loving the time change!

My pictures are late this week, but I got them up today! My sister and her family were in town last week for Spring Break. Fun times! :)

Perfect sentence
Chris!
You are a great MAN!

Doesn't everyone want to grow up and become a poo manager? Everyone needs a dream. Oddly enough, my verification word for this comment is "defile". How ironic.
