Photostory Friday: 365 Week 6

365
Hosted by Chris

PhotoStory Friday
Hosted by Cecily and Mamarazzi

The themes go on

Day 36

Something Sweet

February 5: The directions on the package of a Vanillaroma air freshener say to unwrap the tree a little bit at a time, over several days -- thereby getting the most fragrance for your dollar.

Whatever.

I don't know anyone who does this.

We rip the plastic wrapper off, and for three days or so, every time we open the car door, we are blasted, full in the face, with a little cloud of Vanillaroma goodness.

Day 37

Body Parts

February 6: These are parts of Emma's body -- because she has the cutest parts. If you look really close, you can see the cute little wart on her big right toe.

Day 38

Black and White -- with a little something extra

February 7: Emma, being glamorous. Don't hate her because she's beautiful.

Day 39

Sky shots

February 8: When the sky looks the same every day for weeks, you have to find some way to break up the monotony.

Day 40

Gratitude

February 9: These are the bricks on the front of my house.

We didn't buy our house until we'd been married for fourteen years. We still have another thirty years to pay. It's less that 1,500 square feet. But it's our dream house.

We love our neighbors and the neighborhood. We love our flowers and our yard. We love the memories we've already made here, and the promise that the years to come hold. I'm so grateful to have a home to call our own.

Day 41

Things I love

February 10: I love the stocking cap that may wife knitted for me. It's part old fashioned sledding cap, part "Ebenezer Scrooge" night cap.

The picture is a little blurry, because I was using the self timer and chasing the light -- and the only place I could take the picture was in the parking lot at work.

People were watching.

Day 42

Things I hate

February 11: If I'd been thinking, I wouldn't have placed the "things I hate" at the end of my photographic week. Sorry about that.

I hate the check engine light.

It might as well be a dollar sign.

Or a sign that says "You're not really a man, because whatever is wrong with me is nothing that you'll know how to fix."

I LOVE your Scrooge hat. Even more because we share that whole love of Scrooge thing.

I also love Emma's parts and the sky shot. AWESOME.

The hat..it scares me. :-)

Love the sky shot and of course all of those of Emma...

SOrry about harassing you on Facebook...I had to break way from my toddler chanting...for about four hours straight..."You play with me?" and then ordering me around and telling me how to play with him and his new robot. Argh! :-)

i love the hat...like love and love the pic from the rear view mirror.

Your daughter is going to kill you someday for pointing out her wart :)

Love the brick shot, very creative way to get a picture of your house.

And that hat picture is just too funny, espeically since people were watching.

And don't feel so bad, my husband works in construction so he knows how to fix all sorts of things... NOT.. he works in construction management, he sits at a desk most of the day and he is still very much a man in my eyes :)

I totally hate smelly things, like that vanillaroma tree.

and who could hate Emma?

That hat is great...but even better than that hat is picturing you, at work, with the hat on, taking a picture of yourself...love it!!

I enjoyed all of your pictures. I enjoyed the brick, the story with it was awesome. I love your hat! Sound like you have a fun life. ~

Emma is beautiful, right down to the little wart on her toe:)

The sky shot is really cool!

You are a man, even if you can't fix your car, because you will wear a hat knitted by your wife. You're a good man :)

I love the hat too. :)
And I love your photography... but that's just me being a broken record. In a good way.

Love the hat. You're great behind the camera! Great photos. Stopping in from PSF. Have a good weekend!

Day 38 is really beautiful and I love that hat.

Awesome shots! I love the hat. I wish I could do that.

Ditto the service light. We're missing a link or something. Neither my hubby or I have a clue, but, as you say, you always know it's going to be mucho $$. Hope yours is minor.

Try the duct tape cure with Emma's toe. I was skeptical, to say the least, but it worked with Julianna. Wrap it in duct tape for a week, peel it off, soak in water for 10 minutes or so, file off the dead skin, repeat, repeat, as necessary. In Julianna's case, a wart that had been there (actually it had spread to more like 7-8 in a clump), just completely came off in two weeks. I couldn't believe it.

That hat is awesome! I am so impressed that your wife knitted it.

And what do you mean about the monotony of sky shots?! All of the scenery photos you post are gorgeous!

The feet photo is my fave this week. :)

Oh, and I never kept the plastic wrapper on those trees. Who wants a plastic bag hanging off of something??

I cannot stand those air fresheners. My husband pulls them right out of the wrapper too and it is so overpowering.
Yeah, service engine is always a big bummer.
Emma is beautiful.

Love your self-portrait, and love the story even more, that people were watching.. awesome. And I adore the foot shot and the B&W with a bit of color, great editing. Actually I love all your shots this week, even the bricks are speaking to me!

The Scrooge hat rocks!

And the shots in the mirror are awesome.

This project will make you do things you would not normally do. Ok, maybe you would. :)

The hat is perfect, to toes adorable, the selective color beautiful, the check engine light annoying, the bricks...fantastic.

Emily said...

Ok, that hat rocks. And I can't believe you took a picture while people were watching. hahahaha!

Emma's so cute. I'm not so sure about the wart though.

Don't feel bad about the car...half the time the mechanics themselves don't know how to fix it!

It is so fun to see your week in pictures. I just love it. I especially love your daughters feet and your husbands hat : )

You know, I think if I saw someone with an air freshener in their car that still had the wrapper on it, I would probably laugh at them. :o)

I agree that the check engine light is evil. It usually means my husband gets to add one more thing to his fix-it list, but it still definitely means time and money!

{krista} said...

dude, that is an awesome hat... and I think you should do a self portrait every week. See how creative you get with THAT one...

Lindsay said...

I can see the wart! I once dug one out of my foot. Myself. I don't recommend it.

I agree. Check Engine SHOULD be replaced by a dollar sign. Really.

Loving your self portrait. Great hat!!

The sky shot in the mirror is awesome as well is your bricks.

"People were watching" - hahaha :) Love the hat though. Don't beat yourself up about the car thing, I'm sure auto mechanics could never take a picture like you can. You have mad skills, my friend.

P.S. I hope the car issues are minor for ya. :P

I love brick, too! I acquired a whole bunch of bricks from dad's pile of bricks (from one of our apartments that we tore down). They also represent gratitude.... to a father who modeled how to work and enjoy it. I love those times spent with him! Old brick is so full of character. It gives me a warm happy feeling.

I love my small home, too. It's going to be hard to leave it when the new house is done. By the way, I live in Northern Utah.

Love the scrooge hat! Emma's feet are adorable. I like your creativity with you sky shot. And I hate that stupid light when it comes on in my car too. Although the last time it went off it was because I had forgotten to screw the gas cap on really tight. Yeah that was an embarrassing trip to the mechanic.
