365: Week 31

Day 211

July 30: Emma is my MOST expressive child. And if you get her in the right mood, she'll do anything you ask her to in front of the camera. But, if she's NOT in the mood...

Day 212

July 31: We went camping at Pineview Resevoir. It was the Ward Camp Out. (For you who are not LDS, or not from Utah, the ward is the local congregation/neighborhood).

I was reluctant to go. I'm not much of a camper. I like to go out and explore, and get dirty and worn out, and then go home (or back to the motel) and take a nice hot shower and sleep in a bed. But this night was magic.

Life is swirling in something of a turmoil around me lately, and as I ate the marvelous dutch oven dinner, as I stood in the fading evening light on the bluffs above the lake, as we sat by the fire, late into the night and talked with our wonderful new friends, all the care floated away -- at least for a moment -- on the cool mountain breeze.

Day 213

August 1: Morning light.

My favorite light of all is morning light, and I rarely get to shoot in it. But, this morning, I was up early and following these two little adventurers. They were looking for the perfect rocks to throw in the lake.

Day 214

August 2: Have I mentioned that my weekend was just full of beauty?

Day 215

August 3: I love the chaos of this shot. It looks like a giant monster, flinging it's victims out into the sea.

We have season passes to the local amusement park, and this is my favorite time to be there -- at dusk, just as the midway lights come on. It feels so classic.

Day 216

August 4: Sometimes you just take a shot to say you took one that day. Fortunately, driving along the Legacy Parkway, at sunset, usually provides you with an opportunity.

Day 217

August 5: I went on a date with the most beautiful woman in the world tonight.

See that ring?

That ring predates almost everything in our relationship. Before the wedding, before the engagement. I found it in a junk drawer, in a convenience store in Cedar City, Utah, where I was working the grave yard shift when we met. I slipped it on my finger one night, and Sharon slipped it off the next day, and on to her own finger.

That is a beautiful picture of the girls walking. And what a neat story about the ring. Date nights are just the best too...
Glad you survived the camping trip. ;)

You got some amazing shots this week. I loved the girls in the grass. It looks like it could be a Hallmark commercial.

Oh how I know that, "I'm not in the mood" look.

Hmmmmmm. I love everyone of those pictures. And the sentiment behind them.

Sorry to hear about the turmoil swirling around you. Wish I could help.

Hey, that early morning "adventurere" on the left is SURE CUTE! :) As is Emma. (At first, I wasn't completely positive that was my Katelyn, but then I saw her worn out blankie on her shoulders - yep, that's her!)
