After interrogating the usual suspects -- Jordan, Matt and Emma -- I was getting nowhere. They were unusually tight lipped, in this instance. My steely glares and my implied threats of heavily restricted Wii-ing, accomplished nothing.
So I called in the professionals -- also Jordan, Matt and Emma (ironically). With their new crime scene investigating kits (that they got at the parade on Saturday) they vowed to discover the perpetrator of this heinous, domestic disturbance. They were VERY thorough.
With their magnifying glasses they closely inspected the local bug population.
They dusted the flowers in the front yard for fingerprints.
They got good and wet running in the sprinklers.
They came up with names for their detective agency.
All of this VERY far from the garage -- the scene of the crime. But who am I to question the experts?
Eventually, they determined that one of them must be lying (I think they could really make a go at this detective thing). After giving them a little time for deliberation, I asked for a determination. The conversation went something like this:
Me: So, have you figured out which one of you is the liar?
Jordan: It's not me.
Matt: I'm pretty sure it's not me. (You've gotta love his conviction)
Emma: (Yelling VERY loudly) IT WASN'T ME!!! I DID NOT DO IT!!
Matt: I think Emma yells when she's lying.
Emma: (Shocked, and still yelling) I...!
Emma: (Shocked, and still yelling) I...!
Emma: (whispering): It wasn't me, I didn't do it!
So, dear reader, I leave her fate in your hands: Is she innocent or guilty?

Those shifty eyes are a dead giveaway. Throw the book at her! (I suggest some Dr. Seuss for this crime.)
It's Emma. Of course she's guilty. Matt would never lie.
At least he's pretty sure he wouldn't...
Good luck and God bless. This is the parenting thing that makes me craziest! I hate being lied to. More than the crime, I hate the lie.
Guilty.
Stone her.
The only thing she is guilty of is being adorable! Let her be. Princesses don't make mistakes...
FYI, the Bean Museum at BYU is a natural history museum named after Dr. or Mr. Bean (not the funny English Mr. Bean but some other guy named Bean). ;D
Sorry, no quirky bean museum. Just a lot of dead and stuffed animals for the kids to look at. It was fun though and any chance we have to get on BYU's campus is worth it. GO COUGARS!
Another FYI
Aw, I couldn't convict such a sweet face.
Well, my 8 yr old yells when she lies - and she is usually yelling "I'm not lying". And they always look innocent.
Me thinks she may be guilty. ;)
hmmmmm I have no idea, but the pic of her is cute.
Oh! Now wait a minute... I am here to defend Emma. I was permanently scarred when my older brother insisted I was lying about something that I was NOT lying about and to this day, I protest WAAAAY to much when I am innocent. So,
go buy that girl a popsicle and everyone say they were wrong. please.
I think you did it Chris. My detective skillz have taken into consideration that you wear footwear to bed... I think you sleep walk and therefore are the culprit.
